Malasyian Shadow Puppetry Talk

Kamrul Hussin

Malaysian Artist, musician, shadow puppeteer and senior lecturer in the music faculty with MARA University of Technology, Kamrul Hussin  is visiting Nottingham as part of the Puppet Festival.

Kamrul has been involved with the development of the Nottingham based Gamelan Orchestra, Kayu Gangsa, and we are delighted to be showcasing the Orchestra as part of the Festival, as well as hearing more about the art of Shadow Puppetry from Kamrul.

Kamrul is delivering a guest lecture at Nottingham Trent University, exploring the art of shadow puppetry, and leading a simple shadow puppet workshop ending with a performance-showcase from one of the Ramayana Epic.

This session is open to both students and the general public.

You can also see Kamrul performing with the Kayu Gangsa Orchestra in the City Arts Dome on Old Market Square on Saturday 24th March from 7pm.
