GPT An intricately crafted marionette of a phoenix with a vivid array of fiery feathers in mid-flight, suspended by strings.

Laura Mathews has always been fascinated by biological mechanics. Her puppets are an exploration into the intricate dynamics of animal movement – partly to understand them, and partly to inhabit another creature, feeling through the strings what it is to swoop and soar.

Laura brings her creatures to life using a blend of traditional and contemporary making techniques, alongside in-depth anatomical research and years of development. This exhibition showcases her complex creations. Come and discover the beauty of movement.
