A puppeteer with an animated expression performs with a wide-eyed, spindly-limbed puppet over an open wooden trunk on a dimly lit stage.

Swallow’s Wings Puppetry

A free puppet show and workshop for ages 6+.

Join us for a lively, funny and imaginative show inspired by traditional West African Anansi stories.

Full of music, storytelling and unforgettable characters, puppets made from everyday materials come to life.

When darkness falls across the land, the animals must work to bring back the light. But who will succeed? The powerful eagle? The clever monkey? Or Anansi the spider and his friends?

I enjoyed it so much I didn’t want it to end.

This is a story about teamwork, courage and using your wits.

After the show, stay for a hands-on workshop led by artist Bryony McCombie Smith, with Lauren Nicole Whitter and Raisa Mcclarey Francis of Anansi Theatre Company. Create your own puppet and try bringing it to life. You can take your puppet home and keep the story going.
