Since its publication in 1995 with Northern Lights, the first book in the trilogy, Philip Pullman’s fantasy epic His Dark Materials has delighted children and adults all over the world.

Its world of armoured bears, witches and parallel universes has garnered even more fans with the recent BBC television adaptation.

Now, with Nottingham Puppet Festival you can join forces with Lyra Belacqua and create your very own daemon – your spirit animal to guide you through this world.

Working on Zoom with writer Hazel Monaghan from Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature, you will spend time using storytelling and writing to discover what your daemon really is. From there, download our ideas sheets and look at the ideas videos created by designer and puppeteer Izzy Hollis to help you bring it to life using simple objects from around the home.

All of Izzy’s resources will be on the website for everyone to view, but places are limited for this very special workshop with Hazel, so book early and join us in the fight against Mrs Coulter and the Gobblers.
